<metadata uuid="http://www.flockguard.org/community/export/opendd/907/attr/description/" entity_uuid="http://www.flockguard.org/community/export/opendd/907/" name="description" published="Sat, 24 Oct 2009 00:46:50 -0500" ><![CDATA[<p>Hi Guys, while at the Denton show, many of the people at the show, came up to myself and Martha, Leon, or Lisa, and made comments about how the Caucasians look very much like bears. Now with showing the 2010 Caucasian Calendar around, I get many who look at it saying, 'They look like bears'!</p>
<p>I know there are some who do not like to hear the 'they look like bears' comment, but the fact is that when people look at this breed, they DO say, 'they look like bears'!&nbsp;</p>
<p>I believe that if someone wants to say that, it is fine, if someone else does not agree that is fine also. But please allow each peson to have their own thoughts and have the right to voice them. We can discuss if we do or if we do not think the same in a civil manner and it can be very educational for everyone.</p>
<p>I personally, Can see how many people can see the bear like look. Some Caucasians look more bear like than other also. Keep smiling Kat</p>]]></metadata>

Yes, lots of people said they look like bears!</p>
<p>I'm still learning but this is what I think I've understood so far: Just as behavioral issues can be confused with breed type (for example, when people say Caucasians are supposed to be excessively agressive - by the way this was not seen among any of the Caucasians at the show), bear-type may also be a confusing term. It may be said that all Caucasians at some time will resemble a bear but true 'bear-type' is something else - more like a theme that runs through a specific genetic breeding program, and, like art, subtle and hard to define.</p>]]></metadata>

Marha is correct, all of our CO's, and we had 10 CO's there, were all well behaved.</p>
<p>My thoughts of Bear-type, and I would expect it to be different with each of us, as we all see things in a different way, is the mass and bulk of the body, the large massive head, the ruff and mane of the males, also help with the impression.&nbsp; Especially when a stranger sees this breed for the first time, they just stop and, in their eyes, see a bear.&nbsp; I believe it is 'the first impression' and that sticks with the person seeing these guys.</p>
<p>The CO does not look like any breed of dog that most people have seen, and as a result, the first thought that they have, is ~ It looks like a bear! Most people have not seen a real bear, they have seen photos, movies, and such and that is what they think of when seeing this breed for the first time, especially one with large bone, huge mass and bulk, and lots of coat with a big head. Just my beliefs on this subject. For me, YES, the CO, especially the Georgian ones, do indeed resemble bears!</p>
<p>Martha and Leon, it has been great seeing you at the shows in Denton. I have really enjoyed getting to know you guys in person.
